GREAT NEWS EVERYONE!

AS OF THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 13TH THE CANADIAN MINT GRACIOUSLY WITHDREW THEIR MECHANICAL ROYALTY FEE FOR DAVE GUNNING'S NEW ALBUM "NO MORE PENNIES"

HE CAN NOW AFFORD TO CONTINUE MANUFACTURING HIS NEW ALBUM AND NOT HAVE TO ABANDON IT AFTER THE INITIAL RUN AS A ONE-OFF COLLECTORS ITEM

EVERYONE IS HAPPY AND WE DON'T HAVE TO CENSOR THE ART ANY FURTHER THAN WE ALREADY HAD TO CONTINUE PRODUCTION

THANKS TO ALL WHO SHOWED POSITIVE SUPPORT

NOW... SCROLL DOWN AND CHECK OUT WHAT ALL THE FUSS WAS ABOUT

HEY EVERYBODY!

THIS IS THE ARTWORK FOR DAVE GUNNING'S NO MORE PENNIES ALBUM

THE COVER PHOTO AND THE INSIDE IMAGES WERE CREATED AS A WAY OF PAYING TRIBUTE TO AND SAYING GOODBYE TO OUR OLD PAL... THE CANADIAN COPPER PENNY

IT IS A 4-PANEL DIGIPAK, A 20pg BOOKLET AND A CD LABEL

THE CANADIAN MINT REQUESTED THREE CHANGES TO THE ARTWORK WHICH WE WERE HAPPY TO MAKE

The 3 changes were:

1. ONLY PENNY FRONTS CAN SHOW... NO IMAGE OF THE QUEEN CAN SHOW.

2. ALL PENNIES MUST BE DATED 2012

3. THE PENNY ON THE BACK OF THE BOOKLET HAD A YIN YANG SYMBOL INTEGRATED INTO IT WHICH THEY ASKED US TO REMOVE.

YOU ARE LOOKING AT THE FINAL "FIXED" VERSION

PLEASE REMEMBER THE PAGES IN THE BOOKLET BELOW ARE IN PRINTER SPREADS NOT READER SPREADS

SO IMAGES ARE NOT NECESSARILY NEXT TO THE CORRECT PAGE

By the way... the b&w lithographs are all copyright free

CHEERS, MICHAEL

YES... THOSE ARE LITTLE PENNIES AS BUTTONS ON DAVE'S SHIRT

ONE LAST BIT OF IRONY

the mechanical fee the government wants to charge Dave Gunning was very prohibitive… $1,200 for every 2000 copies produced

if dave were to record a Gordon Lightfoot song on his album, the mechanical royalties for a cover song on 2000 albums would be 8 cents per disc or $160 total to Mr. Lightfoot

The Mint wanted 60 cents per disc... this is more than the cost of the physical cd disc itself

here's the irony… pull out a Canadian $20 dollar bill — printed by the lovely folks at our Royal Canadian Mint — look on the back and read the quote about supporting the arts

for those with more pennies than twenties in your pocket currently you can scroll down 2 inches and see it blown up realll good

it's a funny old world huh?

cheers, michael
